On August 14, 2019, a church in Liaoyuan, Jilin, gave out education grants to six poor students before the opening of a new semester that usually starts in September.
Every academic semester, the Nanzhan Church in Dongfeng county offers financial aid to poor students.
Though the roads were slippery with wet mud as the typhoon Lekima struck the area, a team of the church's pastoral staff identified six students who would receive grants after traveling to the students' villages for investigation.
The six students included an undergraduate, a senior secondary school student, a junior secondary school student, and a pupil. Their financial pressure results from different causes.
The church's senior pastor Liu Xuesong said that apart from financial aid, there was a necessity of knowing their living conditions. Mental encouragement would help them feel the warmth of society and grow up healthily to become transmitters of love.
