Recently, the church in Shandong launched an initiative to help victims in the flood-hit Shouguang, the largest producer of vegetables in China.
Flooding caused by Typhoon Rumbia affected about 505,000 people, leaving over 62,000 people displaced and 3,500 hectares of farming area damaged according to the local authority report released on Aug 23.
On Aug 22, the church collected relief supplies donated by Christians and other people, which includes water, mats and bedding.
It was said that some churches in the town were flooded and local believers were critically affected.
Four days later, the rescue workers of the Amity Foundation distributed goods worth 520,000 yuan to over 1,580 homes in five rural villages under the help of a pastor and a deacon of the Shouguang CCC&TSPM.
The local church said the supplies were enough for now and the damage to Christians was still being counted. The next step would be to help reconstruction work.
