On June 19, 2018, a college professor shared the basic differences between Chinese and western culture from the perspective of religious traditions in Tianhe Church, the largest church in Guangzhou.

The fifth lecture at the 2018 Teacher Forum on the Sinicization of Christianity was addressed by Professor Lin Zhongze from the school of history and culture of the South China Normal University. All of the church staff of Guangzhou Church attent the lecture.

Co-held by the Guangzhou CCC & TSPM and Guangzhou Christian Historical and Cultural Center, the forum is the latest effort of the church in Guangzhou to promote sinicizing Christianity after the Forum on the Sinicization of Christianity conducted in 2016 and weekly lectures given by intellectuals in April 2017.

Professor Lin explained the cultural differences between the two countries by contrasting six pairs of thoughts including monotheism versus polytheism, human nature being bad versus being good, "grace first" versus "works first", and "the joy of the world to come" versus "the blessings of this life". He said that as an important carrier of culture, religion reflected the connotation of cultural systems. Religion and culture influenced each other.
