Faith is growing over 10 years or decades after they become believers, but some of them have never asked “what shall I do, Lord?” to the believers in Chongwenmen Church, Rev. Zhang Wenzhe calls for living for God in 2016 after the Lunar New Year.
Rev. Zhang quotes the Scripture of Acts 22:6-11, with the Paul’s confession,”What shall I do, Lord?”(Acts 22:10, NIV). Pointing out that man’s life on earth is so short, Rev. Zhang reminds the audience of the three big questions: where did I come from? What am I doing? Where shall I go? “These are questions that many ancient wised men meditated for a long range.”
“But think of we believers.” says Rev. Zhang. “Faith should had been growing for decade or years, but there are so many Christians who have never asked the three questions.”
“You are wasting years.” added by the preacher.
By warning, Rev. Zhang calls for seeking for the God’s will to each and everyone who decided to follow Jesus.
“You may have a dream from your parents or teachers when you were young. You may be fighting for that dream. But I have to remind you that, you maybe have forgot that you are a Christian, which has cost Jesus’ blood for you. You’re bought by Jesus with his life. He paid his blood and life for you!” says Rev. Zhang. “Then, are you doing as the Scripture says: Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God?”
The preacher encourage believers to seek for God’s will as the great Apostle Paul did. When Paul asked, “what shall I do, Lord?” he got the revelation. He went to Damascus. He waited for God’s will. He became an Apostle to the Gentiles. He proclaimed the gospel for his life time.
“Seek God’s will first.” Rev. Zhang exhorts the Christians ahead of the Lunar New Year, encouraging them to life for God and glory Him in the new year.
About the Chongwenmen Church:
Chongwenmen Church is a historic church located in Beijing. The Chongwenmen Church, AKA Asbury Church, is located a stone’s throw from the Beijing Railway Station. Down a hutong close to the Chongwenmen subway station, the church is located via a stone gate and within a stone and wood structure.
When first established in 1870 by the American Methodist Church, the church was called Asbury Church. During the Boxer Rebellion of 1900, it fall victim to the rage of China’s farmers and was burned down completely. In 1902, the government provided funds to rebuild the Asbury Church and completed the new construction in 1904. Since its establishment, the church has been one of the most important and famous in Beijing. The chapel was expanded over the years and now can seat 2,000 people.
Chongwenmen Church is one of the largest Christian Protestant churches in Beijing. Rarely in China, its architectural style — at least the outside — is well-preserved. The building is designated a historical relic by the government and hopefully its beautiful facade will be protected for a long time. Just a side note, this church is also a popular location for couples — Christian or not — to shoot their wedding photos.
