At 7pm of Dec. 18, Beijing Chongwenmen Church performed the biblical Drama: The Magi Visit the Messiah; and around 1000 believers and seekers attended it.
The biblical drama consists of ten scenes. It tells a story that the three magi and other people in the east discuss who should be suitable to go to Israel. However, due to long distances and hardship, some are unwilling to go for not getting over family or career. Finally the three magi are chosen to worship the savior in Bethlehem. They walk a long way and eventually arrive at the place near where the child may be born.
The star they had seen in the east goes ahead of them until it stops over the place where the child is. Overjoyed, they see the child with his mother Mary, bow down and worship him. Then they open their treasures and present him with gifts of gold, incense and myrrh.
After the drama, the preacher Duan Jinxin said, "There are many things we can't put down in our lives, which are obstacles hindering us from Jesus. So today coming here, let's put down all the secular worries and burdens, worship Jesus in spirit and in truth and offer our whole bodies and hearts to God."
According to the Book of Matthew, the Magi from the east knew the incoming birth of the new king of the Jews through the star, and they came to Jerusalem to visit him. When Herod King of Judea heard this, he asked them to find Jesus and report to him so that he might go and worship him. The star directed them to find Mary and the baby Jesus. The magi presented him with gifts of gold and of incense and of myrrh.
