A church in north China’s Shanxi Province hosted a painting and calligraphy activity, "adhering to the principle of developing religion in the Chinese context".
On Tuesday, the Yaodu District CC&TSPM invited seven calligraphy or painting teachers and two folk paper-cutting lovers to participate in the event conducted in Yaodu District Church, Linfen City, the district TSPM reported.
This year is also the 100th anniversary of the united front tactic proposed by the Communist Party of China (CPC). To promote the Sinicization of Christianity, the district CC&TSPM held this activity themed "Welcome the 20th National Congress of the CPC and Build a Clean and Honest Yaodu", as the provincial party committee called for "building honest and upright governments in Shanxi". The leaders of the United Front Work Department of the city and district gave speeches with congratulations, commending them for taking the lead in carrying out this kind of event in the city and district.
More than 30 calligraphy and painting works were created in the morning, which will be exhibited in the related follow-up activities.
