Fujian Theological Seminary held a ceremony to celebrate the beginning of classes for the new academic year.
On the morning of October 14, Rev. Yue Qinghua, chairman of Fujian TSPM and president of Fujian Theological Seminary, delivered a speech after the national flag raising ceremony was carried out, according to CCC&TSPM. Yue encouraged, “Learning is the first thing in life, and reading is the foundation for learning." He added that students should make friends with good teachers and books, study diligently, read good books, and strive to adapt to the requirements of the times. He also encouraged them to explore knowledge with sincerity and to act with devotion and aspiration. Yue said students should "love the country and religion, honor God and live for others." He also reminded the students to adhere to right beliefs, words, and acts, and be true to the spirit of "three-self".
Officials from the government's religious department and pastoral co-workers also attended. Because of COVID-19 concerns, the seminary spent nearly two months preparing the school to resume classes.
Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 earlier this year, Fujian Theological Seminary suspended all collective religious activities, and the institution was unable to open. Meanwhile, they provided online classes and arranged for students to defend their theses.
