On April 1, 2018, Eduodi Yizu Church in Fugong County, Yunnan, held a baptism in the river. Twelve people received immersion baptism.
Normally the church in the famous "gospel county" conducts baptism services around Easter in rivers or shoals of the Nu River. Led by elders, Lisu believers in traditional clothes sit on stones near rivers praying, singing hymns, and watching the baptism.
The ethnic minority Christians sang in the Lisu language, "The blood of Jesus cleanses our sins." After the baptism, believers walked uphill and downhill to attend a communion service in a church located in Eduodi Village.
Fugong is a poverty-stricken town on the border with a majority Lisu population, but with Nu, Bai, and other minorities. The Lisu believe in a primitive animism religion. Over 100 years ago, however, Fugong became a famous "Gospel County" with the arrival of missionaries.
