On November 4, 2017, the Quanzhou Christian Volunteer Clinic Team and the Yongchun County Christian Volunteer Clinic Team offered a free clinic to 797 people in a community of Yongchun County, Quanzhou, Fujian.
Rev. Huang, the leader of the county CCC&TSPM, gave a brief introduction of the clinic. The free medical service was begun after a prayer made by Rev. Lin, the leader of the Quanzhou CCC&TSPM.
The Quanzhou Christian Medical Team was founded in Oct 1996. It consists of Christian medical professionals and is equivalent to a small mobile hospital. Since its foundation, it has carried out free clinics in remote mountainous areas, ethnic villages, and disaster-affected areas. Their footprints have been all over Fujian and even across the country, and reached as far as Yushu Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Qinghai. Several media outlets reported it with recognition. It has been a successful case of Christian social service.
According to an article published in China Ethnic News in Mar 2016 "Targeted Measures for helping Minority Villages Out of Poverty from Religious Communities in Fujian," it offered free treatment for over 395 times and covered more than 200 villages. The team traveled 78,000 kilometers and treated over 140,000 patients, saving a total bill of over 5.41 million yuan for the sick.
It won honorary titles as an advanced unit in "Haixi Spring Rain Action" in Fujian, and an advanced collective contributing to the economic and social development in China's Christian community.
