On March 20, 2017, a new church located in Xiguang Village, Wu'an, Hebei, held its completion ceremony.
According to the WeChat account of the "Church in Wu'an", Rev. Li Xiuli, from the city's CCC&TSPM, led several elders to pray for the consecration of the church. Elder Zhao Shuantai delivered the sermon in the ceremony.
Christianity was preached into the city in 1906 by Canadian Presbyterians. Later, Rev. J.H. Bruce, a Canadian missionary, and a doctor named Jia Zhenbang purchased a land to construct a church and a hospital outside the city. They built a church inside the city and set up primary schools for boys and girls. Campuses in local villages were constructed and the number of believers reached 259 with ten preachers in service. In 1920, when the city was struck by a disastrous drought, Bruce and Jia constructed a 24 kilometers long road. The church resumed the service after the reform and opening up. In 2011, the Wu'an TSPM was set up. Currently, there are 258 religious premises in the city with an overall congregation of more than 20,000 people.
Christianity was introduced to Wuan by the Canadian Presbyterian Mission in the late Qing Dynasty. Canadian Missionaries arrived in Wuan and started preaching and medical ministry here. Besides setting western hospital, the Canadian missionary purchased land to build churches, which also covered primary schools for both boys and girls. The gospel went revived here. During the Cultural revolution, the church was closed and the missionaries were forced to leave China.
The church here reopened since the reform and opening-up, and Christian Church Council was launched in Wuan in 2011. Right now there were 258 registered religious activity places and more that 20,000 believers in Wuan.
