On March 22, 2016, CCC&TSPM starts the eighth program aimed to train primary aged-caring nurses in Zhejiang and about 110 church co-workers who are devoted to aged-caring ministry attend it.
Before the opening ceremony, Elder Zhang Dapeng from Zhejiang CCC&TSPM stresses on the aged caring ministry as a mission of modern churches in the sermon. "To honor your father and mother"-the first commandment with a promise God gives man should be our deeds.
The ongoing training program, consisting of two parts (theory and practice) will last one week. Professor Zhan Chuandong, the expert in the elderly care will teach the theory part and Professor Qiu Xingmei the practice part. Trainees will take evaluation tests and those who pass will be awarded with the primary certificate.
Besides, the trainees will visit the Christian aged home in Hangzhou.
The trainees come from all corners of China, including two co-workers from a home for the aged of Xinjian- the farthest land.
Some co-workers already engage in nursing homes and some are in preparation for the future completion of the aged homes.
According to an official of the social service department of the national CCC, the program intended to enroll only 50 students, but it turned out that the enrolments reached over 100 until the deadline, which may indicate a large need for professional training.
The first program to train primary technicians on elderly care was held in Shangyu in September, 2013, lasting for ten days with fifty-three attendees. Rev. Gao Feng attended the opening ceremony, saying that Christians should convert their views on social service from the eyes of faith and concept and do real work in Christian social service.
Since the first opening, the training program has been held for six terms in Shangyu.
