On Nov. 5, East China Theological College(ECTC) held its 30th Anniversary Ceremony of Foundation, the thanksgiving worship and theological seminar in the Moore Memorial Church(also known as Muen Church). Until now, 1157 people have graduated from ECTC.
Rev. Xu Xiaohong, the Associate Chairman and Secretary General of China TSPM, the leaders of Ethnic and Religious Affairs Commission of Shanghai and the president of ECTC attended the 30th Anniversary ceremony. Rev. Chen Lifu preached the sermon in the thanksgiving worship.
Besides, ECTC held the theological seminar in the theme "Theological Education and the Sinolization of Christianity" and "The Church Shepherding and Exploration of the Sinolization of Christianity". Professor Xu Yihua of Fudan University, Professor Li Xiangping of East China Normal University, Rev. Chen Yilu of Nanjing Union Theological Seminary, Rev. Yu Jiang of Shanghai church, Rev. Pan Xingwang, Chairman of Zhejiang CCC&TSPM, Rev. Shan Weixing of China CCC&TSPM gave their speech.
About the East China Theological College
East China Theological College was founded together by the CCC&TSPM of Shandong Province, Zhejiang Province, Jiangxi Province, Fujian Province and Shanghai in 1985, aiming at cultivating integrated pastoral talents with all-round development in spirit, ethics, intellect, physique, social skills and aesthetics.
ECTC covers an area of 17843 square meters with construction area of 7635 square meters and green area of 9000 square meters.It has a courtyard style of Yangtze Delta area. The main buildings consist of Light Building(chapel and multiple-use hall), Truth Building(library), Wisdom Building(teaching areas and lecture rooms), Love Building(dormitory), Unity Building(hostel), Saints Building(office area) and Abundance Building(canteen and indoor stadium).
Currently ECTC has Department of Theology and Department of Sacred Music. The duration of the theology program is four years. There're 60% theology courses, including systematic theology, bible theology, historical theology and practical theology and 40% cultural courses including courses in literature, history, politics, law and music in the theology program. The Department of Sacred Music started in 2005 and began its enrollment in 2011, permitted by Bureau of Religious Affairs of PRC. ECTC will open up the Bible courses and amateur theology courses to develop talents for churches in Shanghai.
