In 2012, Mark Lee, 56, the Christian actor, became famous for his character "Su Peisheng", the Emperor's top servant in the Chinese television 'Empresses in the Palace'.
The celebrity, who has been acting for over 40 years, won the "Best Actor" in a Miniseries or Television Film at Golden Bell Awards for his performance in 'Lost Daughter'. He confessed that winning a award doesn't matter, but he was waiting silently for God's work at the ceremony.
A decade ago, he was once awarded "Best Actor in a Television Series" in the 41th Golden Bell Awards. This time, the award-winning Christian claims that the glory doesn't belong to him, but to God and it is also the mission God entrusted to him.
Global Witness reports that Mark, born in a single-parent family, was hot-tempered due to lack of mother's love. His father gave him the first name "Tianzhu" (heavenly pillar), hoping that he could become a real man. Hence, he developed a competitive and unyielding character. However, he didn't feel happy and always felt lonely during his childhood.
When he grew up, he followed Buddhism but his faith didn't change himself. But one day, a couple who had been his friends for a decade visited him at home and sang hymns, prayed and read the Bible in his sitting room. Before the end of gathering, Mark, who was chanting sutras upstairs, went to downstairs to say goodbye to them and the couple prayed for him. Out of courtesy, he showed the initiative to pray for them. It was the first time that he felt God's presence.
After this, he began to believe in God and walked into a church with his wife. He was baptized into Christianity in 2005. Soon after his conversion, unexpectedly, he got the news that he was nominated into best actor award of Golden Bell Awards after finishing the Taiwanese TV series "The Golden Years". At that time, an idea went into his brain, "You will win the award!" Although he declared this in the church, his wife told him to keep this secret out of church to avoid misunderstanding.
At the award ceremony of the 41th Golden Bell Awards held in December 2006, he won the award of "Best Actor in a Television Series". Rejoicing at this achievement, he was amazed at the wonderful God: whatever he wants to accomplish is not limited by time or space.
After a decade, he opens his arms and throws a kiss, showing gratitude to God's favor on him, when his name is announced for the best actor award. It is said that he, who was acting in Zhengjiang, didn't intend to attend that ceremony, but the "Holy Spirit" reminded him that God would declare his idea through Mark's mouth. So he decided to attend it. Indeed, God gave this honor to him.
Christianity Daily said that he prepared another speech for this moment, while the gospel stage play about "the Lord's prayer" attracted him to reflect on Christian prayer that loses its heart and becomes only a religious rite.
So he speaks the short but powerful "Lord's prayer" as his speech. "This is done by God. I'm only God's vessel and instrument to deliver his will." Then he prays for the people on this land with the Lord's prayer.
