'Ghost in the Shell' Winds Modest in China Box Office

While "Ghost in the Shell" has not performed well on America's box office, the Scarlet Johansson-starrer movie has garnered impressive earnings and topped in China's box office.

In a report by Chinese data service Ent Group. Paramount, the movie has recorded $21.6 million from the 90,000 theatres per day and garnered $21.4 million out from 7, 600 locations and also garnered $2.5 million through 389 IMAX theatres.

"Ghost in the Shell" is an American science fiction action movie directed by Rupert sanders and was written by Jamie Moss. It was based on a Japanese manga of the same name written by Masamune Shirow.

It stars Scarlett Johansson, Michael Pitt, Takeshi Kitano, Pilous Asbaek, Juliette Binoche and Chin Han. It follows the story of a woman whose brain was placed in a cyborg body.
