The Theological Education Committee of the China Christian Council and the Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CCC&TSPM) convened for their Fifth Plenary Session in Hangzhou, Zhejiang.
During the meeting held from May 10 to 12, members of the special committee discussed ways to elevate the professional title evaluation of seminary teachers, prepare for the theological education work conference, and further implement the Administrative Measures for Religious Institutions, said CCC&TSPM.
Of particular interest were discussions about the promotion principle of the professional title evaluation of each theological college and the setting of the number of professional titles. Other topics included the sinicization of theological education and the teaching syllabus of the seminaries, as well as the potential need for the annual review system for teacher qualification certificates.
Prior to the official meeting on May 10, members of the special committee conducted research at Zhejiang Theological Seminary to evaluate the implementation of the Standard-Setting for the Undergraduate Curriculum of Higher Theological Seminaries in China (Trial).
At this meeting, they discussed other issues like faculty team development, student enrollment, continuing education for graduates, and graduate orientation.
The annual entrance examination for freshmen took place on May 15-16 at Zhejiang Theological Seminary, attracting 61 candidates from 11 districts and cities in the province. Approximately 63% of the candidates had a college degree or above, according to the seminary.
The entrance examination consisted of a recommendation, a written exam, oral quizzes, and a psychological test.
