A church in China’s southeastern coastal Guangdong Province resumed its in-person Sunday service with a baptism ceremony.
After a two-month COVID-19 lockdown, 45 followers of Christ were baptized in Bu’ji Church, Shenzhen, in the second Sunday service on August 14.
In a sermon titled “Believe and Be Baptized”, Pastor Chen Yong’an explained the significance and importance of a believer’s baptism. He stated that baptism was an outward expression of a Christian’s inner faith, a symbol of believers’ union with Jesus in his death and resurrection, and a beginning and seal of new life.
After the baptism, each new believer received a Bible, followed by a hymn “Oh, Happy Day”.
