To win the fight against the epidemic as soon as possible, church workers in Shanghai participated in voluntary activities.
Since March 8, all churches in Qingpu District have been in lockdown, implementing a series of measures, such as site disinfection, internal control, work shifts and security guarantee, and personnel health management. At the same time, through their official WeChat accounts, local churches guided believers to follow personal protection measures and minimize outings and gatherings, according to the Shanghai CC&TSPM.
Pastoral staff and volunteers from churches in Qingpu joined the volunteer team. Some were responsible for maintaining the order for the nucleic acid testing in the community, some helped community workers collect personnel data, and others took the initiative to send materials to neighbors and disinfect corridors. Some elderly people at home didn’t know how to use the COVID-19 antigen test kits, so the pastoral co-workers went door to door to provide guidance to ensure full coverage of the antigen detection test. Another staff worker named Zhu Lijing came to donate blood as soon as she knew the blood station recruited donors.
Since March 15, nine pastoral workers from Qingpu CC&TSPM have participated in voluntary epidemic prevention and control services 39 times altogether.
From 0:00 to 24:00 on April 6, Shanghai reported 322 new confirmed COVID-19 cases and 19,660 asymptomatic infections.
