"My son from Shandong Province may come to Fenghua to see me on January 19," Elder Yuan Xiangzhong said in January 2022.
His descendants and relatives gathered around the elderly Christian on Chinese New Year’s Eve or at the date of Lichun (the first of 24 solar terms), hearing him tell stories and testimonies of His faith. In addition to playing piano, the elder who served in a church in Ningbo, Zhejiang Province for more than 30 years gave thanksgiving prayers before dinner, singing hymns to praise God.
Besides writing and composing poems, Elder Yuan aged 94 can add and record audio and video within PowerPoint presentations as a way to preach the gospel.
Living alone in the pastor's building of the True God Church in Xiao Town, Fenghua District, Ningbo City, the elder is cared for and honored by his children and grandchildren who all live out of the town.
During the Spring Festival this year, his eldest son and his wife, living far away in Zibo, Shandong province, drove nearly a thousand kilometers to Fenghua, celebrating the grandest festival with him.
Leading his family to pray and sing hymns, the senior man exhorted his nephew to believe in the Lord and walk with Jesus.
