A Shanghai church announced its cancellation of any gatherings at Christmas but the celebration was held one week in advance.
On December 18, Shanghai All Saints Church released a notice, saying that it would host Christmas celebrations the next day, the fourth Sunday of Advent, including two sacred music worship service, instead of conducting any activities on December 24 and 25, according to the church.
The Huangpu District CC&TSPM in Shanghai stated that the in-person worship services in local churches would be canceled at Christmas to avoid the spread of coronavirus pandemic, as many believers and tourists may then flock to the places of worship located in the downtown.
