From October 19 to 21, more than 30 alumni from all over Shandong Province participated in this activity, which was attended by some members of Shandong CC&TSPM and the faculty of the seminary, Shandong CC&TSPM reported.
These graduates explained their own situations and the difficulties they faced in the sacred music ministry, as well as their opinions and suggestions on Shandong CC&TSPM and the seminary.
Rev. Gao Ming, chairman of Shandong TSPM, said that as the Sinicization of sacred music was an important part of the Sinicization of Christianity, Shandong churches needed to strengthen innovation to promote the ministry of sacred music with the current times on the basis of inheriting the good tradition of church music. He exhorted the attendees to strengthen exchanges and that they should learn to improve their sacred music level and to create hymns reflecting the experience of local believers’ faith coupled with their professional knowledge.
Gao discussed the development of the sacred music training ministry of the seminary and the training plan for the sacred music talents of Shandong churches. He stated that the seminary would offer them the opportunity to study even further to improve their levels, which would boost the process of Sinicization of church music in Shandong.
The alumni expressed how the exchanges in the event and guidance and encouragement from the pastors strengthened their dedication, providing a clear direction of service. They would work hard to enhance the study and research of sacred music to promote the Sinicization of Christianity in sacred music and worship.
Weihai Municipal CC&TSPM and some sacred music students made special contributions to the ministry of sacred music in Shandong.
