A training program for 120 key pastoral workers in south-central China was held in Haikou, Hainan.
In addition to "promoting the Sinicization of Christianity," the one-week-long program was aimed to "improve the comprehensive quality of the basic-level backbone pastoral staff, in areas such as policy theory, theological attainments, and character cultivation," according to CCC&TSPM.
Starting from May 24, CCC&TSPM leaders gave lectures, including "Advanced persons among Christians with one heart", "Sinicization of Christianity and the construction of theological thought", "Church regulations", and "Church management". To celebrate the centenary of the founding of the Communist Party of China, they also learned the "Four History" (the history of the Party, New China, reform and opening up, and socialist development).
After the lectures, attendees from the provinces of Hunan, Hubei, Guangdong, Guangxi, Hainan, and Henan conducted group discussions on the recent lessons.
On the 28th, Rev. Xu Xiaohong, chairman of TSPM, gave a speech at the closing ceremony, encouraging grassroots pastoral staff to "work hard, strengthen their learning abilities, and make their own contributions to the Sinicization of Christianity."
