Nanzhan Church in Dongfeng County, Jilin Province, hosted its thanksgiving service in the last week of November each year.
At that time, the harvest fruits are offered as a gift of gratitude to God and all believers enjoy sharing them.
On the morning of Sunday, November 29, despite the cold weather, the believers still came to the church for worship. The reception staff of the church came early to measure the temperature of those attended, scan their health code and guide them according to COVID-19 protocols. Fruit for the Triune God, prepared in advance, were laid out neatly on the altar and people sat quietly in the sanctuary, preparing themselves for worship with prayers of praise. Watching the fruits and vegetables on the stage and the food and oil offered by the believers, listening to the pastor’s sermon, they all thanked God for being kept safe each day and growth in their spiritual lives.
In the evening service, after the sermon, Senior Pastor Liu Xuesong, who was dressed in a clerical robe, introduced the fruits offered by the pastoral staff to the believers and wished everyone a happy thanksgiving day. In the hymns sung by the pastoral staff, the fruit, a symbol of the grace of God, was shared with the congregation, who all expressed their gratitude to God.
