The second meeting of the 10th TSPM and the 8th CCC’s Bible Ministry Committee was held in Haikou City, Hainan Province.
From October 27th to 29th, the participants reported on the work of Bible publishing and distribution this year, the difficulties they encountered, and the next steps, according to CCC&TSPM.
Pastor Shan Weixiang, deputy president and general-secretary of CCC&TSPM (China Christian Council & Three-Self Patriotic Movement), pointed out that the 2019 Bible Ministry Committee’s research report on the work of Bible translation by Yunnan ethnic minority had bright spots. Last year, they planned to restart the Bible Day and held a series of activities in grassroots churches, and received the support of believers for the Bible ministry.
Pastor Shan also pointed out that now the publishing industry is greatly influenced by electronic media. People might download an app and read the Bible on their smartphones. In this new situation, the publication and distribution of the Bible face new challenges.
Chen Hongli, head of the publication group of the Media Ministry, introduced the work of the Bible publishing and distribution this year, the difficulties they encountered and the next steps.
Liu Lei, general manager of Amity Printing Co., Ltd., reported on Bible printing during the coronavirus pandemic.
Based on changes in Bible publication, all the participants shared their opinions about the new trends in Bible distribution, and the new direction of future work.
After the meeting, the committee members also visited the Hainan Provincial CC&TSPM, Hainan Theological Training Center, Haisheng Church in Haikou and Century Jiaji Church in Qionghai City, and presented some Bibles. They also learned about the Bible supply situation from the pastors and believers in local churches.
