On May 1, 2019, Kunshan Church held a book club event in Dianshanhu Salvation Church about the Ancients in Chinese history and their good character.

According to Kunshan Church, with the theme of, "Pass on Fine Traditions of Chinese Culture and Develop Christ's Spirit of Loving People", the meeting consisted of three parts: a writers' forum, an idiomatic quiz, and a time of book sharing,. More than 30 local believers attended it.

Shao Weihua from Jiangsu Writers' Association explained the patriotism of the prominent Chinese poet Du Fu who had a passion to serve his country and compassion for the Chinese people.

Fifteen participants shared about the patriotism, ethics, integrity and the sharing of joy of many forefathers. For example, Wang Zhaojun, one of the Four Beauties of ancient China, sacrificed her youth for the bliss of the Xiongnu people. Gu Yanwu, a Chinese philologist and geographer, proposed the wise saying, "Everybody is responsible for the fate of the world". Qi Jiguang, who took over the commandership of his father who died when he was 17, devoted himself to protecting the country and became a hero.

Regarding ethics, filial piety was mentioned most often. A culture of filial piety was seen in the ethics of the Ancients and their values should be developed from childhood on, beginning with small things and starting from oneself.

The members also talked about the integrity and the sharing of joy by the influential philosophers Confucius and Zengzi.
