On November 4, 2018, Shanghai's All Saints Church held an annual memorial service to honor the deceased.
The congregation paid tribute to their loved ones. A pastor said, "The meaning of this memorial is not to atone for the dead or to pray for the deceased because, according to the Bible's promises, the dead who die in the Lord have the assurance of salvation by faith." He urged the congregation to consider the outcome of Christian elders' way of life and learn from them about how to please God by imitating their faith and deeds in good times and bad.
On the same day, Shanghai's Huizhong Church also hosted a memorial service.
