On October 7, 2018, an exhibition kicked off to mark the 140th anniversary of Christianity into Linfen, Shanxi.
The exhibits include graphic files and articles, paintings, and calligraphy recording how Christianity grew in the region. More than 100 historical pictures taken at different times, dozens of Bibles, hymnals used in the Republic of China, Bible transcriptions, and devotional notebooks were also presented.
The church in Linfen started in 1878 when two British missionaries named David Hill and Joshua Turner brought the Gospel into the city. They ordained Xi Sheng Mo (also called Pastor Hsi) as a pastor and built a drug rehabilitation center. A primary school, a refuge, and a hospital were also established.
Shortly after 1949, the church was registered and from 1978 to 1992, the local congregations worshiped together. In the next decade, it went through ups and downs and since 2012, the church has borne fruit in ministries and social service.
