The 13th Social Role and Influence of Christianity in Contemporary China Forum was kicked off by the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (LOCPG) on November 14, 2017. Rev. Shan Weixiang, vice-president of the CCC, presided over the opening ceremony held in Xiamen, Fujian.
Zhang Qiang, vice director of LOCPG's coordination department, shared the general picture of religion in China and the improvement of Christianity in China in theological construction, sinicization, and social service.
Elder Fu Xianwei, chairman of the TSPM, encouraged the participants to think on how to promote the sinicization of Christianity to play an active role in social service. He gave an overview of the church in mainland China, its opportunities and challenges, the achievement of sinicization of Christianity, and the prospect of working with the church in Hong Kong.
