Teacher Deng Dezhi, a preacher of Shangrao Church of Jiangxi, died of cancer at the age of 40 on Monday, a pastor shares on WeChat.
Born in 1976, Deng studied in East China Theological College. After graduation, he served in the church along with his wife Sun Meixiang, a graduate of Jiangxi Bible School. They were both full-time preachers, each paid over 1000 yuan a month.
However, he was diagnosed with large mass liver cancer located at the left lobe on Aug 22, 2016, who needed an urgent surgery.
His church launched a fundraising campaign on Qingsongchou, a hot social networking crowdfunding platform in China, and raised a fund of 100,000 yuan to pay for the surgical removal of his left lobe liver within just ten hours. The operation was a success and then he started rehabilitation. Nevertheless, the news of his death was spread to the church yesterday.
Informed of this news, a co-worker comments, "I feel really sad for recently so many pastors around me passed away at young ages."
