During 2016 Religion Charity Week, a ceremony of water purification equipment donation and installment was held in Zaixing Village of Fuyu City in Jilin Province on Sept 19, the National CCCTSPM reports.
Vice Chairman Xu Xiaohong of China Christianity Patriotic Movement Committee and Chairman Meng Fanzhi of CCCTSPM of Jilin Province attended the ceremony .
The water quality of Zaixing village is the worst in Fuyu City. People have drunken water with iron, nickel and chromium for many generations. 60 percent villagers suffer from liver disease, liver fluke or CVD.
In 2015, China Christianity Patriotic Movement Committee and CCCTSPM of Jilin Province raised fund to install 77 pieces of water purification equipment in other two villages in Fuyu City. In 2016, the two sides work together again and install water purification equipment for 210 families in Zaixing Village.
Before the ceremony, priests listened to the report of water pollution in Zaixing Village and inspected the water purification equipment which has been put into practice.
Vice President Xu Xiaohong made a speech. He said that: the idea of Christianity is to love your neighbor as yourself. It's our job to serve and benefit people. We shall pay more attention to environmental protection and people's health.
Xu also thanked for funds in the past two years, and he called for more help from other Christian institutions.
