Shenzhen CCC&TSPM held a three-day retreat for pastoral staff in Shenzhen Church on August 23 to 25, which included lectures on special topics, daily devotions, group discussion and relaxed trips, according to Shenzhen CCC&TSPM.
The retreat invited Rev. Zhou Zhaozhen, the president of Hong Kong Lutheran Theological Seminary and a department leader of the city's bureau of religious affairs and Rev. Cai Bosheng, the chairman and president of Shenzhen CCC&TSPM, to be the speakers for the retreat.
Rev. Zhou gave a lecture about the tensions between the church's sacraments seen from the New Testament and the nurturing ministry in the new age on the first day of the talks. He talked about how to find the way to balance development through the tension and encouraged the pastoral staff to practice their own characters to enhance their influence and charisma.
The officials conveyed the spirit of the national meeting on religions and the reflections on the sinocization of religions on the second day. Rev. Cai reminded the attendees to study hard and strengthen the self-construction in the lecture on the opportunities and challenges of nurturing in urban churches.
