Jixi County is a mountainous region situated at the south of Anhui in southeastern China. There was no church in the county with a population of 180,000.
In 2013, the local church decided to demolish the previous gathering place which was considered a dangerous area and planned to construct a new church to replace it.
Jixi Church said that evangelists from the church in Wenzhou purchased an old silk factory and refurnished it into a place of worship. The number of believers in the church has now grown to nearly 300 people from the original dozen in 2004.
Until this May, it had received a donation worth over 3 million yuan from the believers and other churches. The pouring of the three-storied concrete slabs for the church's foundation was completed this June.
The construction progress is reported and updated in its official website.
