Chinese President Xi Jinping and United States' President Donald Trump's latest meeting in the G20 summit was reportedly productive. Moreover, experts say that it is reassuring to the world to see both leaders talk as they discussed about their ambitious economic plans and cooperation agreements. The meetings between the two leaders also involved senior military officers, the report added on Monday.
The leaders took part in a bilateral meeting amidst the widespread issues regarding the situation in the Korean peninsula and the United States' current policy agenda. This meeting was reported to be the second of the two presidents' meetings within the year and many more are still to come.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry stated that both the two leaders hold the same view in maintaining their contact with one another and will continue to strengthen strategic mutual trust between the two countries.
According to China Daily, the first round of the comprehensive economic dialogue between the two leaders is set to happen on July 19. Washington and Beijing will also launch their cybersecurity and law enforcement dialogue, including the social and cultural discussions in the same event.
The Chinese online newspaper added that President Xi Jinping noted that he will be discussing a one-year cooperation plan, as well as the 100-day economic cooperation action plan, with Donald Trump, in which the United States president initiated in April.
Regarding the military relations, Xi Jinping proposed that the defense ministers from both countries should visit each other. He called for joined efforts from both countries to ensure peaceful cooperation with one another.
The White House reportedly expressed confidence with regards to the discussions with Xi Jinping. Meanwhile, the Chinese president said that the two countries should show respect and seek win-win results and tackle their sensitive issues and differences appropriately.
"The two sides should have mutual respect, seek win-win results, expand pragmatic cooperation in all fields and reinforce coordination with respect to global and regional issues," Xi said.
