Hong Kong Govt. Donates HK$6.309 M As Flood Relief in South China

On August 5,  the Hong Kong government declared that they will give a grant worth HK$6.309 million to the Amity Foundation in Hong Kong for providing relief to the flood affected areas in South China.

Since May, the Amity Foundation has followed the floods in China and carried out evaluation and disaster relief in affected areas according to its official news updates.

As of August 1, the foundation has provided supplies worth of  4.32 million yuan to 30,934 affected people most of whom suffered from the floods in Guizhou, Hubei, Hunan, Yunan and Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region.

Amity has launched the relief effort to bring food and daily necessities to the victims to ensure their basic living conditions remain stable. The organization plans to distribute rice, oil and cotton quilts as well to affected counties in the above provinces.

The National Ministry of Civil Affairs reported that the disasters had caused 15 deaths and 4 missing, affecting 60,000 people in eight provinces and over 300 hectares of crops with a direct loss of more than 93 million yuan as of 9 a.m. of August 8.
