China's foreign ministry said that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will visit again in China this May to attend a multilateral summit. This is the president's second visit to the country since taking his office in June.
Duterte has reported to be taking a U-turn after concentrating more of his connection with China rather than his traditional ally, the United States.
"I will come to Beijing in May to attend the One Belt, One Road international cooperation summit forum, and I look forward to meeting President Xi Jinping again," China's Vice Foreign Minister Liu Zhenmin said on how pleased he was on China and Philippines' ties right now.
Despite the issue of South China Sea claims, Duterte said in a report earlier he wanted to avoid a confrontation in China and said no need to pressure Beijing to abide the July ruling in favor of Philippines.
To recall, during Duterte's visit in China, he brought home $24 billion worth of funding and investment pledges from China.
