A series of activities were carried out to celebrate the 160th anniversary of gospel transmission in Putian City at a church in China’s southeastern coastal Fujian Province.
A seminar featuring the interpretation, preaching, and application of the scriptures in the Chinese context was hosted at Caohu Church in Nanri Town, Xiuyu District, Putian City, on October 25, said Fujian CC&TSPM.
Dr. Chen Yuexin, vice president and dean of academic affairs at Yanjing Theological Seminary, delivered a keynote speech titled "Fusing Religious Doctrines with Chinese Culture and Illuminating the Sinicized Christianity Through Classics." Subsequently, ten church staff delivered ten speeches, including "The Process of Sinicization of Christianity from the Perspective of Chinese Church History."
The next day, during the celebration ceremony at the same church, Rev. Chen delivered a sermon titled "Dreaming Back to Nanri."
Then, Rev. Zhu Yimin, chairman of Putian TSPM, held a commissioning service, encouraging believers to emulate Jesus’ love and serve the people and the church.
The Putian City Christian Patriotic Education Base, or Lin Zhenzhen Memorial Room, was unveiled at the church, presenting the 160-year history of the development of Christianity in Putian.
