Following his last visit, Rev. Chung Kin Kai, chairman of the Hong Kong Chinese Christian Churches Union (HKCCCU), paid visits to Guangdong CC&TSPM and churches in Guangzhou.

Rev. Fan Hong'en, chairman of the Guangdong Three-Self Patriotic Movement (TSPM), said on September 5 that Guangdong and Hong Kong shared a common cultural heritage, strong ties among people, and similar customs, and that the churches in Guangdong and Hong Kong were closely connected, reported the Guangzhou CC&TSPM.

He provided an overview of the situation of the churches in Guangdong Province, including their social service ministries, as well as the development of Guangdong Union Theological Seminary. He proposed the establishment of a mutual visit mechanism to enhance communication in promoting the sinicization of Christianity, mutual learning and exchanging among young pastors, and strengthening theological thought development.

Rev. Chung Kin Kai praised the healthy inheritance and development of the churches in Guangdong and expressed his approval of the exploration of theological thought development with Lingnan (South China) characteristics and the creation of exemplary churches in Chinese style. He also hoped that the churches in Guangdong and Hong Kong could deepen their cooperation and come to a consensus.

A delegation of 14 people from HKCCCU visited Guangdong Union Theological Seminary, Luke Care and Attention Home, Shamian Church, and Union Church in Guangzhou, exchanging information on the situations of their respective churches, their ministries, theological education, and social services.

The visiting delegation also made a special trip to Lianshui Village in Lian’nan County, Qingyuan City, to revisit the relocated project that they previously supported and to assess the current status of rural revitalization industries in Woshui Town and Lianshan County.

In the next step, they will engage in exchanges in the areas of youth interaction and ministry collaboration.
