Graduates, master's, and doctoral students specializing in religious studies were summoned to participate in a seminar in Shanghai.

According to Shanghai CC&TSPM, Rev. Xu Yulan, chairperson of Shanghai TSPM, highlighted the current lack of highly qualified talents within the Shanghai churches during the symposium that the Shanghai Christian Council and Three-Self Patriotic Movement (CC&TSPM) organized on July 20. To tackle this issue, the Shanghai CC&TSPM would formulate a new talent training plan, creating a conducive environment for Shanghai's young clergy to pursue truth and engage in scholarly exploration.

In his address, Rev. Geng Weizhong, chairman of the Shanghai Christian Council (CC), emphasized the imperative of intensifying efforts in talent development. He underscored the significance of achieving tangible outcomes in areas such as the sinicization of Christianity, theological thought advancement, and biblical research, culminating in an influential guiding force of theory and thought for China's Christianity in the new era.

Between 2020 and June 2023, three church staff members in Shanghai churches had attained doctoral degrees, and four had completed master's programs. At present, there are two doctoral students and two master's students pursuing their studies.
