On their official WeChat accounts, a Fujian church announced that it would host services at the beginning of the Chinese New Year. On the contrary, an Anhui church planned to suspend in-person Sunday services during the Spring Festival.
On January 25, Huayu Road Church in Ma’anshan, Anhui, issued a notice, stating that Sunday services on the sixth and thirteenth day of the Chinese New Year will be ceased to ensure the health and safety of its members, due to the annual Lunar New Year migration. It said all gatherings in meeting points will also be suspended during the special period.
The next day, Qingyang Church in Jinjiang, Fujian, released an announcement that it will hold special services on February 1 (Chinese New Year’s Day) and 2.
