Churches in a city of China’s northeastern Jiangxi Province carried out visits to impoverished people and the elderly in nursing homes before 2022 Spring Festival which falls in early February.
On January 16, more than 30 believers from the Tanxia Gathering Site in Yuanzhou District, Yichun City, went to the district’s Social Welfare Institute, bringing eggs, sauce duck, pear juice, and cotton socks, all purchased with their own money. In addition to presenting freshly cooked dumplings, they trimmed the nails of the elderly residents, Yichun CC&TSPM said.
Four days later, Senior Pastor Yi Zaizhong of Jesus Church sent rice, cooking oil, and money to four needy families in Zhegu Community, Yuanzhou District, where the temporary resettlement site is located.
In mid-January, more than a dozen staff from two meeting points in Xinchang Town and Fangxi Town, Yifeng County, Yichun, visited seriously ill hospitalized patients, delivering rice, noodles, and oil.
The staff workers of Grace Church in Yangxu Town, Gao'an City, Yichun, often visit the elderly persons in the nursing home with clothes and food.
