Seventy-one followers were baptized in a Liaoning church last Sunday in the first communion and baptism service after the church reopened recently.
Leading the service in Xingsheng Church, Anshan, Liaoning, Rev. Jiang Mao gave a sermon with the title "Union with the Lord by Baptism", based on Romans 6:3-11. After the sermon, 71 seekers stood up from the seats, which were especially for people who were getting baptized, walking in line to the holy altar. Rev. Jiang baptized them in the names of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
Then, after Rev. Jiang shared about the purpose of receiving the communion, the communion service began. Jiang broke the bread and consecrated the cups, with the acolytes distributing the bread and cups to the congregation who packed the sanctuary and side hall.
After the service, the two older female believers in their seventies, who took two or three buses to the church from another area, said, "We were afraid that it was late, so we hurried here and are happy to see today's scene! We pray and pray every day, hoping that we can stay away from the pandemic and gather together normally as soon as possible."
