On the evening of Good Friday, the Truth Church in Yangxin County, Hubei Province, held a candlelight Communion service.
In the middle of the sanctuary, on a giant cross made of tables and covered with pure white cloth were two rows of burning wax candles placed parallel to each other. The cross, decorated with candlelight, glowed in the hall and believers sat around it.
There were three steps in the worship session. In the first step, five pastors or deacons from the church shared the seven last words of Christ on the cross.
The second step was the communion service, in which baptized believers came to the holy table and received the bread and the cup from the hands of the two elders. This was the first communion service after the church reopened on March 20.
The third step was to wash the feet. First, the pastoral staff read out the scriptures about the Lord Jesus washing the feet of His disciples. Then, all the staff of the church washed the feet of every believer and catechumen. Later, the staff washed each other's feet.
