The Amity Foundation in Jiangsu launched an experiential event for its "Earth Sprout" project, calling on the public to support pregnant women and infants in underdeveloped areas.

An experience event co-hosted by the Amity Foundation, Alibaba Foundation, and two online stores (Taobao Maternity and Tmall Maternity) was held at the Alibaba Xixi Park in Hangzhou on November 23.

In the first program titled "Thorny Path," participants tied themselves to balloons, representing "negative energy." Each balloon symbolizes challenges faced by mothers in poor areas, such as high pregnancy risks, inadequate medical resources, and nutritional deficiencies, allowing competitors to understand the hardships of motherhood.

Another program called "Empower with Love" requires people to shoot basketballs labeled with support programs for the project, including distributing nutrition packs, maternity gifts, and first aid kits for babies, as well as providing health management for pregnant women and professional training for medical staff.

In the program "Breaking Chains," participants wore boxing gloves and punched sandbags, symbolizing facing challenges to support pregnant women in rural areas.

Another program, "Virtual Reality (VR) Birth Experience," allowed participants to experience a simulated childbirth process and feel the hardships involved. Some participants contorted their bodies in discomfort while finding it hard to endure.

In the program "First 1000 Days," participants had to push tires forward on a specified 1000-centimeter track, which embodied the 1000 days of nurturing a newborn after childbirth, where every step poses a challenge.

In the future, Amity Foundation will continue to collaborate with Alibaba Foundation to promote the development of mother-and-child health care in underdeveloped regions.

The project covers 15 counties in seven provinces, benefiting approximately 1.079 million women of childbearing age. Over 2000 village clinics received medical kits for home visits, and 15 counties received donated medical equipment. The project also organized health education campaigns in rural communities and training for grassroots medical personnel. The project was selected as an Excellent Case of Network Poverty Alleviation in Jiangsu Province and one of the Top Ten Poverty Alleviation Cases of Social Organizations in Jiangsu Province.
