Just after 8:00 p.m. on August 15, the Gospel Times once again contacted Pastor Liao Haomin, chairman and president of Suizhou CC&TSPM, learning that they were just on their way back to Suizhou after visiting heavily flooded areas in Liulin town and Junchuan town of Suizhou.
Twenty-one people were killed and four others missing as heavy rain battered Central China's Hubei province last week, local authorities said Friday.
Two days ago, Pastor Liao led a group of members from the Zengcheng District Christian Council in Suizhou city, to visit Hedian town with relief supplies. After that, the Suizhou CC&TSPM purchased relief supplies with the raised funds.
After the last Sunday service, Pastor Liao and his eight colleagues visited the hardest-hit areas in Liulin town and Junchuan town, bringing them relief supplies, such as Babao porridge, instant noodles, and some financial aid.
Co-workers of the Suizhou CC&TSPM visit more than ten local Christian families in the two towns. Their houses were significantly damaged, while a sister's house was washed away by the flood, which made her voice hoarse with emotion.
However, the believers in Liulin town witnessed God's protection, care, and guidance during the disaster: a paralyzed sister was transferred promptly at the moment that her bed was floating in the flooding water, and a 90-year-old believer who lived by herself was sent to a nursing home a week before that.
In the face of disaster, the staff also had the same dinner boxes that the victims had at the relief station. In the evening, they bid their farewells to the flood-hit members, wishing each other peace in Christ. The visiting co-workers took the night bus back to the traffic control area and then took the CC & TSPM bus back home.
Pastor Liao said that the Suizhou CC& TSPM and the churches would keep a close eye on the post-flood situation by continuing to offer care and support to the believers with relief materials and belief. They would fulfill their obligations to help the Christian victims overcome the flood disaster, restore and rebuild the damaged homes.
