Ahead of his two-day visit to Russia, Chinese President Xi Jinping expressed his positivity regarding Russia. President Xi Jinping said that he is confident he can reach agreement with Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, most especially on deepening cooperation and bilateral relations between the two countries.

"I believe this trip is definitely going to yield fruitful outcomes," Xi said in a written statement released on Monday, July 3 during his arrival in Moscow.

Russian media revealed that during Xi Jinping's interview, he said that both Russia and China hold similar views on the importance as well as the damage of the United States' deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system in Korea. He further added that both countries will take appropriate measures, either individually or jointly, regarding this issue.

Moreover, the Chinese president said that both Russia and China have been communicating and coordinating at different levels regarding this current issue. He further added that these necessary measures are done in order to safeguard the national security of both nations and to balance the regional strategy.

"The deployment gravely harms the strategic security interests of China, Russia and other countries in the region," Xi said. "China and Russia have maintained close coordination on regional and global affars, serving as a sort of ballast in safeguarding regional as well as global peace, stability and security.

Xi Jinping is currently on his state visit to Russia through Vladimir Putin's invitation. Aside from the talks between the two nation leaders, the Chinese president is set to attend people-to-people exchange programs hosted jointly by both Russian and China and meet with people from different walks of life.

The Chinese president will also visit Germany and will go to Hamburg for his 12th G20 summit attendance which will be held on July 3-8, 2017.
