For the first time ever in Olympic history, the largest overseas delegation would be recorded in this year's Summer Olympics in Rio as China announced that it will send 416 athletes for the competition: 256 women and 160 men. These representatives will take part in 26 different sports according to the report by Xinhua.
According to China's General Administration of Sport deputy director Cai Zhenhua, this is the largest Olympic delegation for China and it will 717 members in total, including 29 foreign coaches. Included in the athletes roster of the country is Chinese swimmer Ning Zetao, shooting champion Chen Ying (Who is also the oldest athlete in the delegation) and 14-year old swimmer Ai Yanhan who would be taking part in the 200m women's freestyle and 4x200m freestyle relay.
The country aims to do better in this year's Summer Olympics after they took the second spot in London after the US for the most number of medals.
