Chinese President Xi Jinpig during a high-level meeting on religion on Saturday has urged his people to be vigilant against foreign infiltration through religion and called for adherence to the communist ruling.
According to Chinese Xinhua News Agency, Xi Jinping made the said statement while promising for full implementation of the CPC or Communist Party of China's policies on religious freedom.
"We must resolutely resist overseas infiltration through religious means and guard against ideological infringement by extremists," Xi expressed during the religious convention that recently concluded on Saturday.
According to the Chinese president, authorities in the country should be using internet to focus on different religious issues and spread information on the CPC's religious policies and theories.
Reuters reported that though the Communist Party allows freedom among Chinese people in their religion preference, CPC's leadership still maintains a "tight reign" on regulating issues in religion and institutions operations as well as activities.
Reports had claimed that China is concerned with the growth of Islamists, whom the Chinese president referred to as "extremists" that were responsible for causing havoc in Xinjiang region.
In the recent years, the violence caused by the conflict between the Muslim Uyhgur and Han Chinese has resulted to loss of people's lives summing up to more than hundreds.
In response to this issue, authorities in China has chose to increase efforts in not allowing traditional Islamic religion observances like wearing veils and growing beards.
China is known to be a multi-religious country that is home to different religion like Buddhism, Taoism, Islam, Catholicism and Protestantism. Because of the fact that the Chinese government policy protects freedom of religion belief, Chinese citizens are able to choose freely which religious group they would like to join in.
However, President Xi Jinping discussed about religion on Saturday revealing that not all Chinese are free to choose their religion.
He further specified that all the members of the Communist Party should acts as "unyielding Marxist atheists, consolidate their faith, and bear in mind the Party's tenets."
