Hundreds of millions migrant workers have provided their labor force to transform China’s cities over the last decades. The Amity Foundation advocates for respect, their recognition and rights.
Before Chinese Lunar New Year, migrant workers from all over China embark on a journey to go back to their hometowns and to spend their holidays with families and loved ones. The floating population does not only contribute to China’s economic success, but also deeply shaping the life of the cities where they are working.
The Amity Foundation advocates for these workers recognition. Their contribution for China’s flourishing cities is often underappreciated. Therefore, Amity raises awareness for their situation among the urban society and exposes their situation to the public.
Furthermore, Amity supports grassroots NGOs that support the migrant population regarding workplace security, vocational training and community integration for migrant children, workers affected by accidents at work and marginalized working groups. These grassroots NGOs are located in Jiangsu, Guangzhou, Hunan and Zhejiang.
The Amity Foundation supports schools for migrant workers as part of Amity’s Service Learning Programme and offers volunteering opportunities for overseas partners to get involved and better understand the situation in China.
