A church in China’s southeastern coastal Guangdong Province supplied relief to migrant workers affected by the first typhoon in China this year.

No. 3 typhoon "Siamba" landed on the coastal area of Dianbai in Maoming, Guangdong, around 3 pm on July 2, with a maximum wind force of over level 12. In Wuchuan City of Zhanjiang in the province, near the center of the typhoon, the strongest wind and rain of the typhoon seriously threatened dilapidated houses and simple structures where many migrant workers lived, according to Guangdong CC&TSPM.

At this critical juncture, pastoral staff and members of Meiling Church in Wuchuan City vacated some functional rooms of the church as temporary resettlement sites for people in distress and workers from Hubei, Guangxi, Hunan, and other places, giving meals and tea to them, as well as toys to their children. Some pastoral co-workers also provided emotional reassurance and psychological counseling for these unfortunate people.
