Themed The day is at Hand, an exhibition of calligraphy and painting by a Christian artist will be held on Saturday in Shanghai.

Daozi, a renowned poet and art critic, whose real name is Wang Min or Samuel Wang, is a professor and Ph.D. supervisor from the Academy of Art & Design in Tsinghua University. Having received a bachelor of arts and a master's degree in literature and art, he is engaged in art teaching, visual art research, art criticism and poetry writing, as well as curating art exhibitions.

Daozi used to be the deputy editor-in-chief of the Chang'an, a monthly journal organized by Xi'an Association of Literary and Art Circles, a professor and director of Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and vice-chairman of Chongqing Literature and Art Critics Association.

His work, The God and Gold, won the 20th MISEREOR-Hungertuch Artistic Creation Award in Germany.  It is an ink-wash painting on paper that applies the spirit of Christ to observe and reflect on the physical needs of the consumer society, selected as the Lenten curtain for more than 3000 churches in German-speaking and other European countries for prayer, contemplation, and meditation.

Daozi said in recent years that he researched the promotion of Christian art in order to connect with people’s real lives, experiences, and human history, believing that only in this way could people better feel the realism and authenticity of Christian art.

Chen Danqing, a famous painter, literary critic, and writer will provide art criticism for this exhibition.
