A new church in Minhang District, Shanghai was dedicated as churches in this city are gradually reopening.

With a construction area of 0.61 acres, Jiayin Church in Pujin Street, Pujiang Town held a dedication ceremony on October 8 after its building was completed in 2014, according to Minhang District CC&TSPM.

Covering an area of 0.83 acres, the church can hold 1038 people. In 2006, the government of Pujiang Town made the urban layout readjustment as the municipal authorities planned to relocate some places for urban development and for construction of the Shanghai World Expo Museum. The town funded the relocation of Jesus Church at Chenhang Street and Gospel Church at Duhang Street.

The ground-breaking ceremony was held in June 2013, the construction started more than one month later, and it was completed on July 32, 2014.

However, the church building was made available to the congregation only after it met certain conditions.

The name “Jiayin” (“good news”) is derived from Isaiah 52:7: “How beautiful on the mountains are the feet of those who bring good news(Jiayin), who proclaim peace, who bring good tidings, who proclaim salvation, who say to Zion, ‘Your God reigns!’”
